Xanthelasma is a yellowish cholesterol deposit in the eyelid skin. Laser treatment removes selected surface tissue, but the eyelid must repair before the result can be judged. The depth and extent of a deposit, its position near the lash line, and your skin’s healing response all influence the appearance during recovery. A pale or darker patch may remain after the surface has closed, so early photographs can be misleading.

Follow the clinic’s cleansing and ointment instructions exactly, avoid rubbing the eyelids, and keep products out of the eyes. Do not lift crusts or resume active skincare and makeup until cleared. Protect the healing skin from sunlight when advised. Ask about checking cholesterol or other health factors separately; removing a deposit does not explain or correct its underlying cause.
