How long does chemical peel take to work for adult acne?

Adult acne can involve clogged pores, inflammation and recurring changes around the lower face or jaw. A peel may help shed excess surface cells and improve some active lesions, but it does not remove every trigger. Skin may feel tight, look red or flake during recovery. If breakouts follow a cycle, a short-lived improvement does not necessarily mean the underlying pattern has been controlled.

Tell the clinician about pregnancy, breastfeeding, medicines, previous reactions and products used at home before treatment. Keep the routine simple while the skin heals: gentle cleansing, bland moisturiser and sun protection are usually easier to tolerate than multiple active products. Report intense burning, swelling, blisters, weeping skin or a spreading rash after treatment. Get prompt help for fever, pus or rapidly increasing tenderness. Arrange a dermatology appointment when adult acne is deep, painful, leaving scars or beginning suddenly with other hormonal symptoms, because a peel alone may not address the cause.
