CAR T-cell therapy may begin affecting lymphoma within days to weeks, but your team usually needs follow-up examinations, blood tests, and imaging over the following weeks to judge the response. The first signs of activity and the point at which the full response can be assessed are not always the same. Your lymphoma type, the amount and location of disease, your general health, and the treatment plan can all influence the timing.

CAR T cells are modified immune cells designed to recognise a target on certain lymphoma cells. After they are given, they can multiply and remain active in the body. This immune activity may change symptoms or blood-test findings before a scan gives a clear picture. A scan may be scheduled weeks after treatment, with further assessments planned according to your response and the protocol used by your treatment centre.

Some people have an early response, while others need more time before the treatment effect is clear. An early scan or symptom change is interpreted alongside your examination and laboratory results; one finding does not provide the whole answer.

Keep every planned appointment, because monitoring helps the team identify both treatment response and side effects. Record fever, chills, confusion, unusual sleepiness, dizziness, breathing changes, pain, and new weakness.
