How long does biopsy take to work for lung nodule?

During a biopsy, a clinician collects tissue or cells from the nodule using the method chosen for its location and your health. The sample goes to a laboratory, where specialists examine it. The report may describe whether the cells are benign, abnormal, or cancerous, and may include findings that help identify the type of disease.

Sometimes the first report does not answer every question. More examination or specialist review may be needed, especially when the sample is small or the cells are difficult to classify.
