How long do antibiotics take to work for paronychia?

Paronychia affects the skin beside or beneath a nail. Bacterial infection can cause redness, throbbing, warmth, and swelling; a pocket of pus may prevent tablets or creams from working alone. Less pain, reduced redness, and easier finger movement suggest progress. A damaged nail or ongoing irritation can make recovery slower, and chronic cases may have a different cause.
