How long does antenatal care package take to work for gestational hypertension?

Gestational hypertension is high blood pressure that develops during pregnancy. Antenatal care may include repeat blood-pressure checks, urine tests, blood tests, and assessment of the baby's growth and movement. These checks show whether observation is enough or whether medication, closer follow-up, or hospital assessment is needed. A reading can vary with rest, pain, stress, and timing, so the team considers the trend and related symptoms. Feeling well does not rule out a concerning change.

Attend the review arranged by your maternity team and take prescribed blood-pressure medicine exactly as directed. Contact the maternity service urgently for a severe or persistent headache, visual disturbance, pain beneath the ribs, sudden swelling of the face or hands, vomiting, or feeling very unwell. Seek emergency help for a seizure, collapse, severe breathlessness, or chest pain. Report reduced fetal movement without delay.
