Short answer

Groin strain in padel players is shaped by repeated lunges, side-to-side movement and rotation, making sport-specific rehabilitation and a gradual return important.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

At a glance

Padel demands
Lunging, lateral pushes, rotation and repeated recovery steps.
Progression
Build from comfortable movement to sport-specific speed and court coverage.
Pause play if
Pain causes limping, altered technique or a clear worsening afterwards.

Why padel can stress the groin

Padel asks the inner-thigh adductor muscles to control wide steps, lunges, recovery to the centre and quick changes of direction. Reaching for a low ball, rotating while stretched or continuing after fatigue can load these tissues suddenly. Pain may be felt in the inner thigh or groin and can appear with squeezing the legs, running or changing direction.

The same area can hurt for other reasons, including hip, abdominal wall or joint problems. A sports clinician should examine the injury and consider how it happened, whether there was a pop, and whether walking or kicking is limited.

Returning to the court

In the early phase, reduce movements that reproduce sharp pain and use the clinician’s advice about relative rest, cooling or other symptom relief. Rehabilitation commonly progresses from comfortable range-of-motion work to adductor and hip strengthening, then controlled jogging, side steps, lunges and racket drills.

Return to padel gradually: begin with a manageable session, leave space for recovery, and increase speed, court coverage and competitive intensity one at a time. Warm up with dynamic movement and stop if pain changes your movement or remains worse afterwards. Avoid testing the injury with repeated maximal lunges before strength and control have returned.

When to seek care

Arrange an assessment if groin pain makes you limp, persists after reducing play, or returns each time you resume court movement. Seek prompt care for severe pain after a sudden event, major bruising or swelling, inability to walk normally, numbness, or pain with abdominal symptoms. A sports assessment can distinguish a muscle strain from hip or pelvic problems.

Questions for your doctor

Which tissue is likely injured and what movements should I avoid first? When can I begin strengthening? What court drills should come before full play? What signs show that I am progressing too quickly?
