An intravenous product also enters the bloodstream directly, so it is not treated like a cream used on a small area of skin. Evidence about cosmetic glutathione infusions in pregnancy is limited, and a product may contain additional ingredients or preservatives. If you already received an infusion, write down when it happened and what was in it. Contact your maternity clinician for tailored advice, especially if you developed a rash, wheezing, faintness, vomiting, or pain and redness around the IV site.

When to seek urgent care

Seek urgent medical help for trouble breathing, swelling of the lips or face, collapse, severe dizziness, chest pain, or a rapidly spreading rash after an infusion. Contact your maternity service promptly for persistent vomiting, marked abdominal pain, vaginal bleeding, leaking fluid, or reduced fetal movement when movement is normally felt. These symptoms need assessment on their own and should not be attributed to a cosmetic treatment without evaluation.
