The eggs that are retrieved may also have a greater chance of chromosome changes, which can affect whether an embryo develops after future thawing and fertilisation.

These points do not determine one person’s result. Ovarian reserve tests, ultrasound findings, menstrual history, general health, and the reason for delaying pregnancy help shape the discussion. Freezing eggs after 40 may still be considered, but it should be approached with clear counselling about what the stored eggs can and cannot provide.
