How effective is tumour removal surgery for bile duct cancer?

Bile duct cancer can arise inside the liver, near the liver or closer to the small intestine. That position affects which bile ducts, liver tissue, gallbladder or nearby structures may need removal. The surgeon aims to take out the visible cancer with a clear rim of healthy tissue while preserving enough working liver and maintaining bile drainage.
