Bullous pemphigoid is an autoimmune blistering condition. The medicine works in the skin where it is applied, easing redness, itching and the inflammatory process that supports blister formation. Some people need treatment over many body areas, while others need a more targeted approach. Improvement is judged by fewer new blisters, less itching and healing existing lesions, rather than by appearance alone. Skin can remain fragile after inflammation settles, and the condition may need ongoing review.

Apply the prescribed product to the instructed skin, using the amount and schedule given by your dermatologist. Do not place it on open areas, the eyes or inside the mouth unless specifically directed. Keep blisters clean, avoid breaking them, and use gentle skin care. A clinician may combine topical treatment with wound care or another medicine when the affected area is extensive or the response is incomplete. Do not stop suddenly without a plan.

Get prompt medical help for fever, increasing warmth, pus, worsening pain or rapidly spreading redness around a blister, because these can signal infection. Urgent assessment is needed for trouble breathing, swelling of the tongue or face, faintness, or blisters affecting the eyes or mouth. Contact your dermatologist when new blisters continue despite correct use or treatment causes marked burning, thinning or easy bruising.
