How effective is topical antifungal treatment for fungal acne?

Fungal acne is a common name for Malassezia folliculitis, in which yeast contributes to small, fairly uniform bumps around hair follicles. It often feels itchy and may affect the forehead, chest, shoulders or back. Ordinary acne treatments do not address yeast, while antifungal treatment targets that cause.
