Why it may help
Spironolactone blocks some androgen effects and can reduce oil production and inflamed breakouts. It may suit cyclical acne or breakouts around the jaw and lower face, especially when topical treatment has not settled them. It does not treat every cause of adult acne.
Benefits can take several weeks to notice and continue only while treatment remains appropriate. Possible effects include breast tenderness, irregular bleeding, dizziness or increased urination.
Using it safely
