How effective is nebuliser treatment for acute bronchitis?

A nebuliser turns liquid medicine into a mist that can be breathed into the airways. Acute bronchitis commonly causes cough and mucus while the breathing tubes are irritated; a nebuliser does not remove the infection itself. A bronchodilator may help when wheezing or temporary airway tightening is present, but it is not suitable for everyone and may cause a fast heartbeat or shakiness.
