Excimer treatment delivers focused ultraviolet light to depigmented skin. The light can stimulate pigment-producing cells that remain in or around a patch and may also help regulate local immune activity. Small, well-defined areas are easier to target than extensive involvement. Colour usually returns gradually and may appear as small islands that expand over time.
