How effective is cortisone injection for Morton's neuroma?

Morton's neuroma is irritation and thickening around a nerve between the toes, commonly producing burning, tingling, or a feeling of a pebble in the forefoot. Cortisone can calm inflammation around that nerve. It may make shoes and walking more tolerable, but symptoms can persist if the forefoot remains compressed or if another condition is causing the pain.

Have the diagnosis checked before injection, especially if numbness is spreading or pain is not clearly between the toes. Choose shoes with a wide toe box and enough room for the forefoot, and ask about a metatarsal pad or other pressure-relieving insert. Increase walking gradually after the advised recovery period. Persistent symptoms may need a different treatment discussion.
