How effective is cortisone injection for ankle osteoarthritis?

An injection places anti-inflammatory medicine around the ankle joint. It may calm irritation, reduce swelling, and make walking or physiotherapy easier. The response depends on how much arthritis is present, whether inflammation is contributing to pain, and whether another problem is also affecting the ankle. Relief may fade, and the injection cannot restore cartilage or correct an ankle deformity.
