How effective is CO2 laser resurfacing for syringoma?

Syringomas are benign sweat-duct growths that often appear as firm, small bumps around the eyelids. CO2 laser energy removes targeted tissue, allowing the surface to heal smoother. Lesions can vary in depth, and deeper or clustered bumps may need staged treatment or may leave some texture behind. Healing can involve redness, swelling, crusting, and temporary lightening or darkening of the skin. Because the underlying tendency remains, a treated syringoma can recur and untreated lesions can become more noticeable over time.

Arrange a diagnostic examination before cosmetic treatment, since eyelid bumps can have several causes. Tell the clinician about previous pigment changes, cold sores, medicines, eye conditions, and any history of slow wound healing. Ask whether CO2 treatment or another approach fits the location and depth of the syringomas. After treatment, follow wound-care instructions, avoid rubbing or peeling the area, limit sun exposure, and use eye-area products only when cleared. Do not apply makeup to open or crusted skin unless specifically advised.

Call the clinic for increasing pain, spreading redness, pus-like drainage, marked swelling, or fever. Get urgent eye assessment for vision change, severe eye pain, light sensitivity, or difficulty opening the eye. A bump that rapidly changes, bleeds, or develops an ulcer should be examined instead of assumed to be a syringoma.

Ask how the diagnosis was established, whether the lesions are shallow enough for laser treatment, how pigment risk will be reduced, whether more than one session may be needed, and which symptoms require immediate eye review.
