How effective is CO2 laser resurfacing for actinic cheilitis?

Actinic cheilitis is sun-related damage that often causes persistent dryness, scaling, roughness or blurred lip borders. CO2 laser removes a controlled layer of affected surface tissue and allows healthier skin to heal over the area. It may improve visible abnormality, but it cannot protect the lip from future ultraviolet injury and may not address deeper or suspicious changes.
