How effective is chemotherapy for primary peritoneal cancer?

Primary peritoneal cancer develops in the lining of the abdomen and is treated in a way that can resemble some ovarian cancers. Chemotherapy may be given before surgery, after surgery, or when an operation is not suitable. It can reduce visible disease, treat cancer cells elsewhere and ease fluid build-up, abdominal pressure or pain when these are cancer-related.
