Your oncology team will review liver function, bile drainage, nutrition, kidney function, other illnesses and current medicines. Ask whether the purpose is to make surgery more feasible, control cancer, or ease symptoms. Discuss the schedule, monitoring and ways to manage nausea, tiredness, mouth soreness and changes in blood counts. Tell the team promptly about jaundice, worsening abdominal pain, reduced appetite, or difficulty keeping fluids down, because these may need assessment alongside chemotherapy.

Call your treatment team urgently for fever or chills, worsening yellowing of the skin, dark urine with pale stools, severe abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, confusion, or unusual bleeding. Emergency help is needed for severe breathlessness, collapse, or swelling of the face or throat after an infusion.
