For cervical cancer, chemotherapy may be given with radiotherapy to strengthen treatment in the pelvis. The goal can be cure, reducing the chance of return, slowing growth, or easing symptoms. The plan depends on the tumour's extent, biopsy findings, kidney function, hearing, nerves, and general fitness.

Effectiveness is assessed by examination, imaging, symptoms, and blood tests when relevant. A smaller tumour or stable disease can be a useful treatment response, while side effects are considered alongside benefit.

Ask how chemotherapy fits with surgery, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, or symptom-focused care. Share all medicines and supplements, and tell the team about kidney problems, hearing changes, numbness, pregnancy possibility, or plans for fertility. Follow the anti-sickness plan and attend blood-test appointments so treatment can be adjusted safely.

Call your treatment team urgently for fever or chills, difficulty breathing, persistent vomiting, severe diarrhoea, inability to drink, heavy bleeding, or sudden worsening pain. Do not wait for the next appointment if a symptom feels severe or rapidly changes.
