A deep response means the measurable signs of myeloma fall greatly or cannot be detected with the tests used; it does not remove the need for monitoring. Discuss why CAR T-cell therapy is being considered, how cells will be collected, and whether temporary treatment is needed during manufacture. Ask about infection prevention, immunoglobulin support, blood-count recovery, travel limits and the person who will stay with you. Keep every follow-up appointment so changes in myeloma or treatment effects can be addressed early.

Report fever, chills, faintness, confusion, difficulty speaking, seizure, severe weakness or breathing difficulty straight away. After CAR T-cell therapy, these can indicate an immune reaction or neurological toxicity. Also call promptly for signs of infection, unusual bleeding, or reduced urine, especially if your team has already warned that your blood counts or kidney function need close observation.
