How effective is caesarean section for placenta accreta?

In placenta accreta, the placenta is attached more deeply than usual and may not separate safely after birth. A planned caesarean lets the team deliver the baby through an incision positioned with the placenta in mind and coordinate obstetric surgeons, anaesthesia, newborn clinicians, and blood-safety support.

The placenta is generally not pulled away during the operation because this can cause serious bleeding. Depending on how deeply it is attached and where it extends, the team may recommend leaving it undisturbed with further treatment, or removing the uterus as part of the planned procedure.
