How effective is biologic therapy for nail psoriasis?

Nail psoriasis can affect the nail plate, the skin beneath it, or the nail-producing area at its base. A biologic works by targeting specific immune signals involved in psoriasis rather than treating the nail surface alone.

Improvement is gradual because fingernails and toenails must grow forward before clearer nail replaces damaged nail. A clinician may assess progress by examining the nails over several months, alongside changes in skin psoriasis or joint symptoms. Some people need a different biologic or an additional nail treatment if the response is incomplete.
