Cervical radiculopathy occurs when a nerve root in the neck becomes irritated or compressed. This can cause neck pain that travels into the shoulder, arm, or hand, with tingling, altered sensation, or weakness. Medication may reduce inflammatory irritation around the nerve and make daily movement or sleep easier. It cannot physically widen a narrowed space or repair a disc problem, so benefit varies with the cause and severity.

Pain relief is only one part of recovery. A clinician may combine medication with activity changes, targeted exercises, posture advice, or further assessment. Do not assume persistent arm symptoms are simply muscle strain; the pattern and strength of the affected limb matter.
