How common is wrist pain in TFCC tear?

The triangular fibrocartilage complex supports the wrist near the little-finger side and helps with rotation and load-bearing. A tear may cause aching, sharp pain or tenderness in that area. Turning a key, opening a jar, using a racket or rising from a chair with the hand can aggravate symptoms. Some people notice clicking or a feeling of weakness. These features can overlap with other wrist problems, so the pattern does not confirm a tear by itself.

Reduce movements that repeatedly twist the forearm or load the painful side of the wrist. A temporary support may make everyday tasks more comfortable, but it should fit correctly and should not cause tingling or colour change in the fingers. Arrange an assessment if pain continues, follows a fall or limits rotation and grip. A clinician can compare both wrists and discuss whether imaging or guided rehabilitation is useful.

Get urgent help for marked deformity, severe pain, loss of feeling, fingers that become cold or pale, or an inability to move the hand normally. Seek timely review for persistent little-finger-side pain, repeated clicking with weakness, or symptoms that are worsening rather than settling.

Ask which structure may be causing the pain, whether rotation and grip should be limited, what support is suitable, and whether an examination or scan can distinguish a TFCC problem from a fracture or another ligament injury.
