How common is vulval skin changes in genital warts?

Genital warts are growths caused by certain types of human papillomavirus. On the vulva, they may appear as small raised bumps, grouped growths or flatter areas. They can be skin-coloured or slightly different in colour, and may occur near the vaginal opening or around the anus. Some people notice itching, irritation or bleeding after rubbing, while others have no discomfort.
