How common is scaly skin in ringworm?

Ringworm is a fungal infection of the outer skin. Scaling may appear at the edge of a patch while the centre looks clearer, although the pattern is not always a neat ring. It can itch, spread outward, or affect the feet, groin, body, scalp, or nails. The appearance can overlap with eczema, psoriasis, and contact irritation, so flakes do not establish the diagnosis by themselves.
