How common is persistent abdominal pain in appendix cancer?

The appendix is a small pouch connected to the large bowel in the lower right abdomen. Appendix cancer can be associated with an ongoing ache, discomfort, bloating, or a growing sense of abdominal pressure. Some people notice a gradual change rather than a sharp pain. However, common bowel conditions, infection, constipation, and gynaecological or urinary problems can also cause abdominal pain. The pattern, examination, and any associated symptoms help guide the next steps.

Book an appointment if abdominal discomfort continues or repeatedly returns. Bring a brief symptom record, including the area involved, bowel changes, appetite, nausea, and whether the pain is worsening. Tell the clinician about previous abdominal operations or bowel conditions. They may assess your abdomen and discuss tests that look for causes inside the abdomen.

Get urgent care if pain rapidly becomes severe, you develop a high fever, cannot keep fluids down, feel faint, have a hard swollen abdomen, or see blood in stool or vomit. These symptoms warrant prompt medical attention and are not a way to determine whether cancer is present.
