How common is persistent abdominal pain in adrenal cancer?

The adrenal glands sit above the kidneys, deep in the back of the abdomen. An adrenal tumour may cause a persistent ache, pressure, or a feeling of fullness when it grows or presses on nearby tissues. The pain may be felt in the upper abdomen, side, or back rather than at one precise point. Pain alone cannot identify its cause; digestive problems, muscle strain, urinary conditions, and other illnesses can produce similar symptoms.

Arrange a medical assessment if the pain keeps returning, does not settle, or changes your daily activities. Note where it is, what it feels like, whether meals or movement affect it, and any accompanying changes such as nausea, altered bowel habits, fever, or unexplained weight change. A clinician can examine you and decide whether blood tests, urine tests, or imaging are appropriate.

Seek urgent medical care for sudden severe abdominal pain, fainting, repeated vomiting, a swollen rigid abdomen, black stools, blood in vomit or stool, or inability to pass urine. These warning signs need prompt assessment regardless of the underlying cause.

Ask what conditions are being considered, whether the location of the pain suggests an adrenal problem, and which changes should prompt you to contact the clinic sooner. If tests are planned, ask what each test can and cannot show.
