How common is nausea in peptic ulcer?

A peptic ulcer is a sore in the lining of the stomach or the first part of the small intestine. Nausea may occur with burning or aching discomfort in the upper abdomen, bloating, belching, feeling full quickly, or vomiting. Some ulcers cause few symptoms until a complication develops. Nausea is not specific to an ulcer, so the timing of pain, medicines, and other digestive symptoms helps a clinician decide what to investigate.

Arrange a medical review if nausea keeps returning, is linked with upper-abdominal pain, or affects eating. Take prescribed treatment as directed and tell your clinician about anti-inflammatory pain medicines, aspirin, smoking, alcohol, and previous stomach problems. Do not stop a prescribed medicine without advice. Smaller meals and avoiding foods or drinks that clearly worsen symptoms may be more comfortable while you arrange care.
