A skin yeast infection can develop in folds such as the groin, under the breasts, between the toes, or in other warm, damp areas. The rash may have a defined edge, small nearby spots, scaling, cracking, or a moist appearance. Itching can be mild or distracting and may worsen with heat, sweating, or rubbing. These features overlap with eczema, irritation, and other infections, so the location and appearance do not confirm the cause by themselves.

Gently wash the area and pat it dry rather than rubbing. Wear breathable clothing, change damp garments promptly, and avoid fragranced products on the rash. Do not share towels, and wash clothing and towels regularly. A pharmacist or clinician can advise whether an antifungal treatment is suitable; follow its directions and seek review if the rash does not improve or returns repeatedly.

Arrange an assessment for a spreading, recurrent, painful, or uncertain rash, or when itching continues despite appropriate care. Prompt attention is needed for pus, increasing warmth, marked swelling, fever, or skin breakdown. Seek urgent help if a rash is accompanied by facial swelling, breathing difficulty, or severe illness.
