How common is indigestion in hiatus hernia?

Short answer
Indigestion is a common presentation of Hiatus Hernia, although the symptom can have causes unrelated to the hernia.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

The connection explained
A hiatus hernia occurs when part of the stomach moves upward through the opening in the diaphragm. This can make reflux easier and may cause burning behind the breastbone, sour fluid in the mouth, belching, upper-abdominal discomfort or fullness after eating. Some people have a hiatus hernia without symptoms.
Indigestion does not show where the problem is by itself. A clinician may ask whether symptoms worsen after meals, when bending or when lying down, and whether swallowing or chest discomfort is involved. Other causes of indigestion may still need consideration.
Ways to manage symptoms
Try smaller meals, remain upright after eating and identify foods or drinks that reliably worsen symptoms. Avoid tight clothing around the abdomen and discuss suitable medicine with a pharmacist or clinician, especially if symptoms are frequent. Arrange an appointment when symptoms persist, disturb sleep or require regular self-treatment.
When symptoms are urgent
Get urgent help for severe chest or abdominal pain, difficulty or pain with swallowing, vomiting blood, black stools, repeated vomiting, faintness or unexplained weight loss. Chest pain with breathlessness, sweating or pain spreading to the arm or jaw also needs emergency assessment.
What to ask
Could reflux or a hiatus hernia explain my symptoms? Should I have an examination or further tests? Which meal and sleeping changes are appropriate, and when should I seek urgent help?

Questions people ask
Can a hiatus hernia cause reflux as well as indigestion?
Yes. The change in the stomach's position can make reflux easier and may add burning or sour fluid.
Is every case of indigestion caused by a hiatus hernia?
No. Indigestion has many possible causes, and symptoms need to be considered together.
