How panic disorder can feel
Panic disorder involves repeated panic attacks and concern about having another one. Between attacks, a person may feel watchful, tense, or avoid situations where escape seems difficult or help might not be available. Racing heart, shaking, breathlessness, dizziness and fear can occur during an attack, but these symptoms also need medical assessment when new or severe.
What may help
Keep a brief note of attacks, triggers, body sensations and what you avoided afterward. During a surge of panic, try to slow your exhale, place both feet on the floor, and remind yourself that the sensations will pass. A clinician can assess physical causes and discuss talking therapy, medicines, or both when appropriate.
When to seek care
Book an appointment when anxiety or panic is affecting work, study, relationships, sleep, or travel. Get urgent medical help for chest pain, fainting, new severe breathlessness, weakness on one side, or symptoms that feel different from prior attacks. Seek immediate mental health support if you may harm yourself.
Questions to discuss
Ask whether your episodes fit panic attacks, whether any medical checks are needed, and what treatment choices match your circumstances. It can help to describe what happens before, during and after an episode.

Yes. Panic can cause strong physical sensations. New, severe, or unusual symptoms should be checked urgently rather than assumed to be panic.
