Short answer
Fatigue is a very common presentation of Influenza and can feel stronger than ordinary tiredness during the acute illness.

Why flu causes marked tiredness
Influenza triggers an immune response that can produce profound tiredness, weakness, and a need for extra sleep. Fatigue often appears with sudden fever, chills, headache, muscle aches, cough, sore throat, or reduced appetite. Energy may remain low while the cough or fever is settling, because recovery takes time. Fatigue alone does not distinguish influenza from other viral illnesses.
Supporting recovery
Rest, drink fluids regularly, and return to normal activity gradually as strength improves. Eat small nourishing meals if appetite is reduced, and follow advice about fever or pain medicines. Stay home while acutely unwell and reduce close contact with people at higher risk. Contact a clinician early if you are pregnant, have a long-term condition, have a weakened immune system, or symptoms began recently and you may need antiviral assessment.
When to seek urgent care
Get urgent help for difficulty breathing, chest pain, blue or grey lips, severe dehydration, confusion, fainting, seizures, or extreme weakness. Seek medical review if fever or cough improves and then returns sharply, or if fatigue keeps worsening instead of gradually easing.
Questions for your doctor
Ask whether your symptoms fit influenza, whether testing or antiviral treatment is useful, and how to manage medicines safely. Discuss when you can resume work, exercise, or caring responsibilities without overexertion.

Questions people ask
Does fatigue prove that I have influenza?
No. Several infections and other illnesses can cause fatigue; assessment may be needed.
Why am I still tired after the fever settles?
The immune response and recovery process can outlast the fever. Seek review if tiredness worsens or does not begin to ease.
