How common is excessive sweating in heat exhaustion?

Short answer
Excessive Sweating is a common presentation of Heat Exhaustion. Sweating is the body's main way to release heat, so it may be heavy during heat exposure or physical effort.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What this can mean
Heat exhaustion can also bring weakness, dizziness, headache, nausea, muscle cramps, thirst and cool, clammy skin. The person may feel faint or unusually tired. Heavy sweating alone has many possible explanations, including a warm environment, exercise, anxiety, medicines or a sweating disorder; it does not establish the cause by itself.
What to do now
Move to a cool or shaded place, loosen extra clothing and rest. Cool the skin with wet cloths, a fan or a cool shower. If the person is awake and able to swallow, offer small, frequent sips of water or an oral rehydration drink. Stop exertion and avoid returning to heat until fully recovered.
When to seek urgent care
Seek emergency help if there is confusion, loss of consciousness, a seizure, inability to drink, worsening symptoms or very hot skin. These signs can indicate heatstroke or another serious problem. If symptoms do not improve promptly after cooling and fluids, arrange urgent medical assessment.
Questions for your doctor
Ask what likely triggered the episode, whether dehydration or a medicine contributed, and how to return safely to activity. Mention any repeated episodes, faintness, chest symptoms or sweating that happens outside heat and exercise.

Questions people ask
Does heavy sweating confirm heat exhaustion?
No. It can occur with heat exhaustion, but the surrounding symptoms and circumstances matter, and other causes are possible.
Can heat exhaustion happen without heavy sweating?
Yes. Sweating patterns vary, and reduced sweating with very hot skin is an emergency warning sign rather than reassurance.
