Homeopathic remedy for cradle cap

Cradle cap, also called infantile seborrheic dermatitis, causes greasy or flaky scales on a baby's scalp. It is different from a dry scalp and is not a sign that the baby is unclean. Scratching or forcefully lifting scales can damage the skin and invite irritation.

A homeopathic product may contain ingredients that irritate the scalp, and relying on it can delay assessment of another condition. Avoid essential oils and adult dandruff products unless a clinician specifically advises them for your baby.

Wash the scalp gently with a mild baby shampoo, then soften loose scales with a small amount of a suitable emollient if advised. Use a soft brush and lift only scales that come away easily; never pick or scrape. If the scalp is very inflamed or the rash extends to other areas, ask about treatment, which may include an antifungal cream in selected cases.

Arrange medical advice for oozing, bleeding, swelling, pus, strong tenderness, or a foul smell. Seek prompt care if the baby has a fever, seems unusually sleepy, feeds poorly, or the rash spreads quickly. A clinician can distinguish cradle cap from infection or another skin disorder.
