Home remedies for itchy feet at night

Short answer
Before bed, wash and dry your feet, cool the itchy areas, and use breathable bedding while arranging assessment for persistent night-time symptoms.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.
At a glance
- At bedtime
- Dry between toes and cool the itchy skin.
- Avoid
- Heat, scratching, and damp enclosed footwear.
Why nights can feel worse
At night, warmth under bedding and attention to symptoms can make itch feel more intrusive. Moisture, friction, and an untreated skin condition can also keep the feet irritated. Athlete's Foot may cause scaling or peeling between the toes; Contact Dermatitis can follow footwear or laundry products; Dyshidrotic Eczema may cause small itchy blisters. Night-time itch alone does not identify the cause, so inspect the skin in good light.
Settle the itch before sleep
Rinse or wash gently, dry between the toes, and apply a cool compress when the urge to scratch rises. Wear loose breathable socks if they reduce rubbing, or keep feet uncovered if bedding does not irritate them. Keep nails short and avoid hot baths, fragranced products, essential oils, and vigorous scratching. Wash socks and allow footwear to dry fully. If there is persistent scaling or peeling, ask about Topical Antifungal Treatment rather than combining several products. A plain moisturiser can help dry heel skin, but avoid trapping moisture between toes.
When to arrange care
Seek prompt care for increasing redness, warmth, swelling, pus, deep cracks, severe pain, fever, or a wound. Get urgent help for sudden swelling with trouble breathing. Make an appointment if night-time itch repeatedly breaks sleep, symptoms spread, the nails change, or home care does not help. People with diabetes, reduced sensation, or circulation problems should seek advice early for any break in foot skin.

Questions people ask
Does night-time itch prove I have an infection?
No. Heat, irritation, eczema, and fungal conditions can all worsen at night; the skin pattern is more informative.
What if cooling only helps briefly?
Short relief does not treat the cause; persistent or sleep-disrupting itch deserves clinical advice.
