What should you know about hives on head?

On the scalp, welts can be difficult to see beneath hair but may feel bumpy, hot, or intensely itchy. Hair products, hats, helmets, sweating, hair dye, and pressure from headwear can irritate the area. Hives are the skin response called urticaria; they are not the same as a scaly fungal infection or a fixed rash. Get emergency help for trouble breathing, wheezing, throat or tongue swelling, faintness, confusion, or difficulty swallowing. Seek prompt medical care when scalp or facial swelling is progressing, symptoms began soon after a medicine or food, or the rash is accompanied by fever or feeling very unwell.
