Heat Rash on Forehead Treatment

The forehead can stay warm beneath hair, hats, helmets, headbands, or heavy cosmetics. When sweat ducts become blocked, small bumps and prickling may appear with itch or redness. Sweat, hair products, sunscreen, and makeup can also irritate or clog the area, and acne or folliculitis may look similar. The timing, texture, and relationship to heat or products help a clinician identify the cause.

Move away from heat and remove tight headwear when possible. Rinse the forehead with cool or lukewarm water and a mild cleanser; pat dry along the hairline. Wash sweat from hats, headbands, and helmet liners. Pause heavy makeup, hair oils, pomades, and fragranced skincare over the area. Use a cool compress briefly for discomfort. If dryness follows, ask about a light emollient. A topical corticosteroid is not suitable for every facial rash and should be used near the forehead or hairline only with professional direction.

Arrange care if the eruption persists after removing heat and products, spreads, becomes painful, or develops pus, crusting, blisters, or marked swelling. Fever or redness that is rapidly expanding warrants prompt attention. Urgent help is needed for swelling around the eyes, trouble breathing, trouble swallowing, or sudden widespread hives.
