Is there a test for hand, foot and mouth disease?

A clinician usually asks when the illness began, whether there has been contact with someone unwell, and whether fever, sore throat or reduced drinking occurred. They inspect the mouth, hands, feet and other areas for ulcers, spots or blisters. A swab or other laboratory test is not usually needed when the pattern is clear.
