What should you know about a GE ambulatory blood pressure monitor?

The monitor uses a cuff around your upper arm connected to a small recording unit. It collects readings during waking hours and sleep, giving your clinician a broader view than a single clinic measurement. The record may help distinguish persistently raised readings from changes linked with appointments, activity, stress, or rest. The cuff can tighten repeatedly and may briefly interrupt sleep.

Keep the cuff in its fitted position and carry the recorder as instructed. When it begins to inflate, relax your arm and keep it still at heart level if practical. Follow the clinic's instructions about bathing, exercise, medicines, and recording symptoms or activities. Do not remove the device or alter its settings unless the monitoring team tells you to.

Seek urgent medical care for chest pain, severe breathlessness, fainting, new weakness on one side, confusion, or a sudden severe headache. Do not wait for the next automatic reading. If the cuff causes persistent pain, numbness, marked swelling, or a colour change in the hand, contact the monitoring team promptly.
