Causes of gallstones symptoms in females

Gallstones develop when bile becomes prone to crystal formation or the gallbladder does not empty well. Factors that can contribute include family tendency, increasing age, pregnancy-related hormonal changes, obesity, and rapid weight loss. These factors raise the chance of stones but do not explain every episode of abdominal pain.

Symptoms begin when a stone presses against an outlet or moves into a bile duct. The result may be a steady ache beneath the right ribs, pain in the upper abdomen, nausea, vomiting, or indigestion. Other stomach, bowel, liver, and pancreatic conditions can feel similar.

Note the timing of symptoms, meals, menstrual or pregnancy status, medicines, and previous attacks. Avoid crash diets and choose balanced meals while awaiting assessment. A clinician may use an examination, blood tests, and ultrasound to distinguish gallstones from other causes.

Seek urgent medical care for persistent severe pain, fever, chills, yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, repeated vomiting, or faintness. These changes may indicate infection or obstruction, including a complication such as pancreatitis.
