What should you know about full body sports massage?

Short answer
Full body sports massage uses focused hands-on techniques across several muscle groups to ease tightness and support movement after training.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What a full body session involves
A therapist may work through the back, shoulders, arms, hips, thighs, calves, and feet, adapting pressure to your activity and comfort. The session can include gliding strokes, kneading, compression, and targeted work around areas that feel restricted. It is not a substitute for diagnosing a fresh injury. Massage may feel firm, but sharp pain, numbness, or worsening symptoms are reasons to ask for less pressure or stop.
The aim is usually to improve comfort and muscle mobility around training, rather than to force a joint into a new position. Tell the therapist about recent injuries, medicines, skin problems, pregnancy, or a history of blood clots before treatment.
How to prepare and recover
Share your training schedule and identify movements that provoke tightness. Arrive hydrated, avoid a heavy meal immediately beforehand, and wear clothing that allows the therapist to reach the planned areas. Afterward, gentle walking and normal movement can help you judge how your body responds. Keep demanding training lighter if the treated muscles feel tender, and contact a clinician if discomfort does not settle or function declines.
When massage is not the right first step
Seek medical assessment for severe or sudden pain, major swelling, bruising after a blow, inability to bear weight, new weakness, or loss of sensation. Calf pain with swelling, warmth, chest pain, or breathlessness needs urgent care rather than massage. A suspected Muscle Strain or Muscle Contusion should be assessed when symptoms are significant or not improving.
Useful questions to ask
Ask whether massage is suitable for your symptoms, which areas should be avoided, how much pressure is appropriate, and when you can return to sport. You can also ask whether Myofascial Release or a structured rehabilitation plan would fit your goals.

Questions people ask
Is full body sports massage only for athletes?
No. It may suit active people with exercise-related tightness, although the therapist should adjust the approach to your health and activity level.
Can massage treat a new injury?
Massage should not replace assessment of substantial swelling, bruising, weakness, or difficulty using the injured area.
