Food poisoning without fever

Short answer
Food poisoning can occur without fever, so the absence of a raised temperature does not rule it out.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Why fever may be absent
Some foodborne illnesses mainly irritate the gut or produce toxins, causing nausea, vomiting, cramps, or diarrhoea without a fever. Fever depends on the body's response and on the cause, so temperature alone cannot confirm or exclude the illness. A normal reading is reassuring only in a limited way: fluid loss, severe pain, or persistent vomiting can still require treatment.
What to do now
Rest, take small frequent sips, and use Oral Rehydration Therapy when vomiting or diarrhoea has caused substantial fluid loss. Eat light portions once you feel able and return to normal food gradually. Avoid alcohol and wash hands carefully. Note the start of symptoms, your fluid intake, urine output, pain, and any temperature readings. If oral fluids fail, IV Fluid Therapy can restore hydration under medical supervision.
Red flags to recognise
Contact a clinician for symptoms that are severe, persistent, or worsening, even without fever. Seek urgent help for blood in vomit or stool, intense abdominal pain, fainting, confusion, repeated vomiting, marked dizziness, or very little urine. Arrange earlier advice for a young child, older adult, pregnancy, or a condition that increases dehydration risk.
Questions for your appointment
Ask whether your symptom pattern suggests food poisoning or another cause, how to replace fluids, and whether you need testing. Mention recent food, travel, sick contacts, medicines, and any change in urine.

Questions people ask
Can a normal temperature rule out food poisoning?
No. Some foodborne illnesses cause digestive symptoms without fever.
What matters more than fever right now?
Fluid intake, urination, alertness, pain, and the course of vomiting or diarrhoea help show urgency.
