What should you know about eye filler for eye bags?

An under-eye bag may be caused by a fat pad that pushes forward, fluid-related puffiness, loose skin, or a tear-trough hollow that makes a neighbouring bag look deeper. Droopy eyelids can involve excess skin and reduced support. Filler adds volume; it does not remove a bulging fat pad or tighten loose skin. Placing volume in an already puffy area may be unsuitable, so an examination in different facial expressions and lighting is useful.

Record whether puffiness changes after sleep, allergies, or salty meals, and bring details of previous injections or eyelid surgery. A clinician can assess skin laxity, fat position, hollows, asymmetry, and eye health. If a hollow is the main issue, under-eye filler may be discussed. If excess skin or fat is prominent, eyelid surgery may be considered instead. Do not self-treat persistent swelling with cosmetic products before its cause is clear.

Arrange medical review for new one-sided swelling, a firm lump, persistent redness, pain, discharge, or changes in vision. After filler, seek urgent help for sudden vision disturbance, severe pain, unusual pale or dusky skin, or rapidly increasing swelling. These symptoms need prompt assessment rather than routine cosmetic follow-up.

Ask whether the appearance comes from a hollow, fat pad, loose skin, or fluid; what filler could and could not change; whether eyelid surgery is more suitable; and how complications would be handled.
