Exosomes from mesenchymal stem cells carry biological signals, but their clinical benefits and risks depend on the product and treatment setting. They are not interchangeable with stem-cell therapy, and a proposed injection should be assessed as a specific medical product rather than as a label. Mesenchymal stem cells release small membrane packages called exosomes. These packages can contain proteins and molecular messages that interact with other cells. Laboratory and clinical investigators have examined whether such signals might affect inflammation or tissue behaviour. However, source material, purification, storage, sterility, and delivery method can change the final product. A claim that exosomes support healing does not establish that they can restore a particular tendon, joint, or spinal structure.
