What should you know about erythema multiforme steven johnson syndrome?

Erythema multiforme often produces target-like lesions, commonly on the limbs, and may be associated with infection. Stevens-Johnson syndrome is a severe reaction that can cause widespread painful skin changes, blisters, peeling, and significant involvement of the mouth, eyes, or genitals. A new rash after starting a medicine is not automatically Stevens-Johnson syndrome, but the combination of skin pain, blistering, peeling, or mucosal symptoms must be taken seriously.

If a clinician suspects a medicine reaction, provide the complete list of prescribed medicines, over-the-counter products, and supplements, including recent changes. Do not take another dose of a suspected medicine unless an emergency clinician tells you to.
