Elahere is the brand name for mirvetuximab soravtansine. It is an antibody–drug conjugate: one part attaches to a marker on certain cancer cells and carries a cell-killing medicine into them. Eligibility depends on the tumour’s features, including whether it has enough folate receptor alpha, and on the treatments already tried. The medicine is given by infusion, with checks during treatment.

Ovarian cancer includes several tumour types and behaves differently from person to person. Your oncology team may use scans, pathology, and genomic tumour profiling to clarify the disease and guide the plan. Elahere is not suitable for every ovarian cancer, and a treatment choice balances expected benefit with possible effects on vision, the lungs, nerves, blood counts, or the digestive system.

Contact your cancer team urgently for sudden or worsening vision changes, eye redness or pain, new or increasing breathlessness, chest pain, faintness, persistent vomiting, or signs of dehydration. Seek emergency help for severe breathing difficulty, collapse, confusion, or heavy bleeding. New abdominal swelling, persistent pain, or vomiting also deserves prompt assessment because ovarian cancer and its treatment can affect the bowel and fluid balance.
